4-4-2 (locomotive)
Under the Whyte notation for the classification of steam locomotives by wheel arrangement, 4-4-2 represents a configuration of four leading wheels on two axles, usually in a leading bogie, four powered and coupled driving wheels on two axles, and two trailing wheels on one axle, usually in a trailing truck. This wheel arrangement is commonly known as the Atlantic type.
