Lunar Module Pilot was the official title used for the third pilot position in Block II missions, regardless of whether the LM spacecraft was present or not. |
This crew was unique among pre-shuttle era missions in that the commander was not the most experienced member of the crew. This was also the first case of the rarity of an astronaut who had flown as commander subsequently flying as a non-commander, as Lovell had previously commanded Gemini XII.

To have built in heavn high towrs; nor did he scape
By all his engines, but was headlong sent
With his industrious crew to build in hell.”

Blacks rebellious. Crew uneasy. Our linguist says
their moaning is a prayer for death,
ours and their own.”

“The crew was complete: it included a Boots
A maker of Bonnets and Hoods
A Barrister, brought to arrange their disputes
And a Broker, to value their goods.”
