The Australian Rugby League is the official governing body of rugby league football within Australia. It is guided by an eight member commission which took the power from the partisan NSWRL and QRL boards on 10 February 2012. The commission is chaired by John Grant and the ARL CEO is Shane Mattiske.
The voting members of the ARL are the;
- New South Wales Rugby League
- Queensland Rugby League
- The sixteen National Rugby League clubs
These eighteen members can vote to elect or dismiss commissioners.
The Affiliated states are represented by the following state leagues;
- Northern Territory Rugby League
- South Australian Rugby League
- Tasmanian Rugby League
- Victorian Rugby League
- Western Australia Rugby League
The ARL is the highest authority on the game of rugby league football within Australia. All ARL affiliated leagues and clubs within Australia are under the ARL's jurisdiction.
