Bangladesh Nationalist Party - Party Ideology

Party Ideology

See also: Bangladeshi nationalism

The BNP promotes a center-right policy combining elements of conservatism, nationalism, militarism, anti-anarchism, and anti-communism. It is more popular among the country's business class, military, and conservatives. The party believes that Islam is an integral part of the socio-cultural life of Bangladesh, and favors Islamic principles and cultural views. This is clearly seen through its alliance with the Islamic party of Jamaat. Since the 2001 general election, the party's religious point of view has been largely shifted against inclusion of religious minorities, although a number of leaders representing the minority communities were nominated for the election.

Famous quotes containing the words party and/or ideology:

Last night, party at Lansdowne-House. Tonight, party at Lady Charlotte Greville’s—deplorable waste of time, and something of temper. Nothing imparted—nothing acquired—talking without ideas—if any thing like thought in my mind, it was not on the subjects on which we were gabbling. Heigho!—and in this way half London pass what is called life.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)

Every sign is subject to the criteria of ideological evaluation.... The domain of ideology coincides with the domain of signs. They equate with one another. Wherever a sign is present, ideology is present, too. Everything ideological possesses semiotic value.
