Molecular Carbides
Metal complexes containing Cn fragments are well known. Most common are carbon-centered clusters, such as 2+. Similar species are known for the metal carbonyls and the early metal halides. Even terminal carbides have been crystallized, e.g., CRuCl2(P(C6H11)3)2.
