Erased premiered on premium VOD, ranking in the Top-10 of the iTunes Movies charts on April 8 2013, a month ahead of its US theatrical roll-out on May 17 2013. In the UK, it ranked number 3 in the iTunes Movies charts on April 14 2013, having spent four weeks in the Top-10. It was the second pre-theatrical VOD release ever to break the iTunes US Top 10, behind Bachelorette (film).
Erased has received mixed reviews from critics, as it currently holds a 28% rating based on 40 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes with the consensus: "Derivative to a fault, Erased squanders some nifty potential and its talented cast in a bland retelling of a story action fans have seen too many times before."
