Other Dimensions
The discussions in the preceding sections apply analogously to projective spaces other than the plane. So the points on the projective line may be represented by pairs of coordinates (x, y), not both zero. In this case, the point at infinity is (1, 0). Similarly the points in projective n-space are represented by (n + 1)-tuples.

Famous quotes containing the word dimensions:
“The truth is that a Pigmy and a Patagonian, a Mouse and a Mammoth, derive their dimensions from the same nutritive juices.... [A]ll the manna of heaven would never raise the Mouse to the bulk of the Mammoth.”
—Thomas Jefferson (17431826)
“Why is it that many contemporary male thinkers, especially men of color, repudiate the imperialist legacy of Columbus but affirm dimensions of that legacy by their refusal to repudiate patriarchy?”
—bell hooks (b. c. 1955)
