Jonge jenever has a neutral taste, like vodka, with a slight aroma of juniper. Oude jenever has a smoother, very aromatic taste with malty flavours. Oude jenever is sometimes aged in wood; its malty, woody and smoky flavours lend a resemblance to whiskey.
