English Monarchs
- Richard I of England or Richard the Lionheart (1157–1199)
- Richard II of England (1367–1400)
- Richard III of England (1452–1485)
Although no monarch has assumed the title King Richard IV, this title can sometimes refer to:
- Richard, Duke of York (Prince in the Tower), one of the Princes in the Tower, who would have been Richard IV of England if he had lived
- The fictional King Richard IV of England from Blackadder, a grown up version of the above
- Perkin Warbeck (1474–1499), a pretender who claimed to be Richard, Duke of York

Famous quotes containing the words english and/or monarchs:
“My English text is chaste, and all licentious passages are left in the obscurity of a learned language.”
—Edward Gibbon (17371794)
“There was about all the Romans a heroic tone peculiar to ancient life. Their virtues were great and noble, and these virtues made them great and noble. They possessed a natural majesty that was not put on and taken off at pleasure, as was that of certain eastern monarchs when they put on or took off their garments of Tyrian dye. It is hoped that this is not wholly lost from the world, although the sense of earthly vanity inculcated by Christianity may have swallowed it up in humility.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
