According to the Ethiopian government 36 countries including India, China, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had leased farm land there in March 2011. Ethiopia had offered three million hectares of virgin land to foreign corporations. Ethiopia is one of the world's largest recipients of humanitarian food assistance.
