Macabre

In works of art, macabre ( /məˈkɑːb/mə-KAHB or /məˈkɑːbrə/; ) is the quality of having a grim or ghastly atmosphere. Macabre works emphasize the details and symbols of death.

Authors such as H. P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe used macabre atmosphere.
