Mashonaland is a region in northern Zimbabwe. It is the home of the Shona people.
Currently, Mashonaland is divided into four provinces, with a total population of about 5 million:(2002 census)
- Mashonaland West- 1,2 million
- Mashonaland Central- 998,000
- Mashonaland East- 1,1 million
- Harare- 2 million
In addition, the Zimbabwean capital of Harare, a province unto itself, lies entirely in Mashonaland.
