Criticism
Criticism of OBE falls into a few major groups:
- Opposition to standardized testing
- Criticism of inappropriate outcomes
- Lack of evidence that OBE works
- Extra burden on instructors and educational institutions
- Dislike of something that is not OBE
Though it is claimed the focus is not on "inputs", OBE is criticised for being used to justify increased funding requirements, increased graduation and testing requirements, and additional preparation, homework, and continuing education time spent by students, parents and teachers in supporting learning. It is also criticized for not being able to measure certain skills, much like IQ tests.
