Petticoat - Asian Petticoats

Asian Petticoats

English typically referred to the Indian lehenga as a petticoat; it is the main undergarment worn with a sari. Sari petticoats usually match the color of the sari and are made of satin or cotton. A notable difference between the western petticoat and sari petticoat is that the sari petticoat is rarely shorter than ankle length.

Famous quotes containing the words asian and/or petticoats:

Morals are in all countries the result of legislation and government; they are not African or Asian or European: they are good or bad.
    Denis Diderot (1713–1784)

And men left down their work and came,
And women with petticoats coloured like flame.
And little bare feet that were blue with cold,
Went dancing back to the age of gold,
And all the world went gay, went gay,
For half an hour in the street to-day.
    “Seumas” “O’Sullivan” (1879–1958)
