Roundhouse kicks are particularly present in Eastern martial arts, although the French style of Savate (Boxe Française) developed this kind of technique without any contact with the East. Possibly due to the move's combination of motion and power, which makes for a powerful-looking attack—it became a prerequisite feature in many fighting video games (either as a combination attack or a finishing move) and a common 'finishing move' in martial arts sequences in film and television. In Kamen Rider Kabuto, the titular superhero usually uses a roundhouse kick instead of the traditional flying kick while defeating his opponent in his Rider Form. Martial artist and actor Chuck Norris is often noted for the humorously exaggerated strength of his roundhouse kick. Former WWE Diva Trish Stratus used a roundhouse kick which they dubbed the Chick Kick, and WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan performs a roundhouse kick as one of his signature moves. WWE Diva Layla El currently uses a roundhouse kick as her finisher, naming it The Bombshell. WWE Superstar CM Punk currently uses the roundhouse kick as a signature maneuver.

Famous quotes containing the words popular and/or culture:
“You are, I am sure, aware that genuine popular support in the United States is required to carry out any Government policy, foreign or domestic. The American people make up their own minds and no governmental action can change it.”
—Franklin D. Roosevelt (18821945)
“Here in the U.S., culture is not that delicious panacea which we Europeans consume in a sacramental mental space and which has its own special columns in the newspapersand in peoples minds. Culture is space, speed, cinema, technology. This culture is authentic, if anything can be said to be authentic.”
—Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
