Rugby League World - Golden Boot Award

Golden Boot Award

For more details on this topic, see Rugby League World Golden Boot Award.

In 1985, Open Rugby created the Golden Boot Award, to be given annually to the best player of the year, as chosen by a ballot of international rugby league writers and broadcasters. Due to withdrawal of sponsorship, the Golden Boot was not awarded between 1990 to 1998, but the award was resurrected in 1999 and has been presented every year since. In 2011, an on-going project was started in Rugby League World to determine retrospective winners of the Golden Boot for the years 1990-1998.

Famous quotes containing the words golden, boot and/or award:

Eyes that last I saw in tears
    Through division
    Here in death’s dream kingdom
    The golden vision reappears
I see the eyes but not the tears
    This is my affliction
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)

... until the shopkeeper plants his boot in our eyes,
and unties our bone and is finished with the case,
and turns to the next customer, forgetting our face
or how we knelt at the yellow bulb with sighs
like moth wings for a short while in a small place.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

The award of a pure gold medal for poetry would flatter the recipient unduly: no poem ever attains such carat purity.
    Robert Graves (1895–1985)
