SACRED - Listening

Listening

To listen to SACRED if it had made orbit, a person would have needed the following:

  1. The keplerian elements, in order to know where the satellite is pointed.
  2. A radio capable of operating on 436.870 MHz, which will change with doppler shifting.
  3. A 1200 baud AFSK modem, preferably a very low-end, that does no modulation on its own. Cubesat Groundstation uses a custom-built hardware modem, and possibly a software modem (using the sound card as an Analog-to-Digital converter).
  4. The UA Cubesat GS software would help, however, it is not currently available to the public.
  5. A good antenna system, the design of the antennas is not optimal.

Famous quotes containing the word listening:

I started off rapping for people just like myself, people who were in awe of wealth and flash. It was a conversation between me and them. But now most of those who buy my records are listening in on others’ conversation. They are the aural equivalent of voyeurs, thrilled at this crazy world that has nothing to do with their experience.
Ice-T [Tracy Marrow], U.S. rap musician. Observer (London, Oct. 27, 1991)

While yet a boy I sought for ghosts, and sped
Through many a listening chamber, cave and ruin,
And starlight wood, with fearful steps pursuing
Hopes of high talk with the departed dead.
    Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822)

Proportion ... You can’t help thinking about it in these London streets, where it doesn’t exist.... It’s like listening to a symphony of cats to walk along them. Senseless discords and a horrible disorder all the way.... A concert of Brobdingnagian cats. Order has been turned into a disgusting chaos. We need no barbarians from outside; they’re on the premises, all the time.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)
