School Song

A school song, alma mater, school hymn or school anthem is the patronal song of a school. In England, this tradition is particularly strong in public schools and grammar schools.

Famous quotes containing the words school and/or song:

Loosed betwixt eye and lid, the swimming beams
Of memory, blind school of cuttlefish,
Rise to the air, plunge to the cold streams....
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)

    Lest all the song notes
    pause and break
    across a blood-stained throat
    gone songless,
    turn back.
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)
