Sevastopol - Political Status and Subdivision

Political Status and Subdivision

Administratively, Sevastopol is a municipality excluded from the surrounding Autonomous Republic of Crimea (see Administrative divisions of Ukraine for more details). The territory of the municipality is 863.5 km² and it is further subdivided into four raions (districts). Besides the City of Sevastopol proper, it also includes two towns — Balaklava, Inkerman, urban-type settlement Kacha, and 29 villages.

Sevastopol has no elected mayor, instead a "Chairman of the Sevastopol City State Administration" functions as a mayor. She/he is appointed by the President of Ukraine.

Famous quotes containing the words political, status and/or subdivision:

Martin, a woman hasn’t got any political opinions. I run this farm to suit myself. I’ll shoot the daylights out of anybody—British, Indian or American—that thinks he can come around here monkeyin’ in my business. That satisfy ya?
    Lamar Trotti (1898–1952)

What is clear is that Christianity directed increased attention to childhood. For the first time in history it seemed important to decide what the moral status of children was. In the midst of this sometimes excessive concern, a new sympathy for children was promoted. Sometimes this meant criticizing adults. . . . So far as parents were put on the defensive in this way, the beginning of the Christian era marks a revolution in the child’s status.
    C. John Sommerville (20th century)

I have no doubt but that the misery of the lower classes will be found to abate whenever the Government assumes a freer aspect and the laws favor a subdivision of Property.
    James Madison (1751–1836)
