Splendid China Tower

Splendid China Tower

Splendid China Mall (Traditional Chinese: 錦繡中華; Simplified Chinese: 锦绣中华) is a 90,000 square feet Chinese-themed ethnic shopping centre located at the southeast corner of Redlea Avenue and Steeles Avenue in the former Toronto municipality of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. The current building was built from the shell of the former Canadian Tire store formerly operating at the location. Spendid China Development Inc is responsible for turning the former Canadian Tire building, into a 2-storey ethnic indoor shopping mall in the well known Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue area of Scarborough and Markham, Ontario, despite its "tower" name. Due to its proximity to the popular Asian-oriented Pacific Mall and Market Village plus its own initial success, Phase II of Splendid China Mall calls for a 3-storey addition on the existing parking lot and a four-level underground parking facility. When Phase II is completed, the development will have a total gross floor area of 31,900 square metre (343,400 square feet) of retail, food court, restaurant and banquet hall. Splendid China Mall first opened its doors for business on February 17, 2007. The mini-mall also features a food court and a weekly Saturday night "fair" located at the parking lot, with Chinese food for sale.

Famous quotes containing the words splendid, china and/or tower:

    While making this portage I saw many splendid specimens of the great purple fringed orchis, three feet high. It is remarkable that such delicate flowers should here adorn these wilderness paths.

    Anyone who tries to keep track of what is happening in China is going to end up by wearing all the skin of his left ear from twirling around on it.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)

    With the noise of the mourning of the Swattish nation!
    Fallen is at length
    Its tower of strength;
    Its sun is dimmed ere it had nooned;
    Dead lies the great Ahkoond,
    The great Ahkoond of Swat
    Is not!
    George Thomas Lanigan (1845–1886)
