Surat set good example to other cities in terms of basic urban infrastructure along with externally visible beautification. Surat has a computerised water distribution system and while computerised drainage system with Sewage Treatment Plant to transform it into Energy. It has one of the best water treatment plants in India. Every part of Surat has underground drainage and street lights. PNG entered in Surat in start 90s and most of the area are covered under PNG while other Metro-Mega city has started this after 2010. CNG entered Surat in start of 90s and more than 95% of Auto Rickshaws and public Buses are running with CNG as an efficient and less polluting fuel at the end of 2005. Several government and private run hospitals are there in Surat to provide medical assistance to the citizens and the visitors. The authority has stressed on E-Governance to bring speed in the overall administration works. Numerous top grade schools and colleges enrich the education scenario of the Surat City.
