List of Dutch Water Boards
Typically, a water board’s territory is made up of one or more polders or watersheds. The territory of a water board generally covers several municipalities and may even include areas in two or more provinces. As of 2011, there are 25 water boards in the Netherlands. *Waterschap Blija Buitendijks became the most recent to merge with Wetterskip Fryslân.

Waterschap Roer and Overmaas and Waterschap Peel and Maasvallei have a joint company called “Waterschapsbedrijf Limburg”. One of its tasks is to ensure that the sewage treatment plants function efficiently.
