Flowing

"Flowing" is a song by the group 311. It first appeared on the 1999 album Soundsystem and was released as the second single from the album. It was included on 311's Greatest Hits '93-'03 album in 2004.

The song did not obtain as much attention as the first single from Soundsystem, "Come Original", but did reach #17 on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart.

"Flowing" is characteristic of a steady rhythm and prominent percussive beats. It is one of the band's heavier songs. The chorus constitutes the bulk of the song, with the repetitive phrasing indicating an inability to stay focused on something and being constantly reminded of unpleasant past occurrences. The song is not as heavily influenced with the reggae style as some of the bands other work, though it is still slightly evident in the styling.

Famous quotes containing the word flowing:

    Justice has its anger, my lord Bishop, and the wrath of justice is an element of progress. Whatever else may be said of it, the French Revolution was the greatest step forward by mankind since the coming of Christ. It was unfinished, I agree, but still it was sublime. It released the untapped springs of society; it softened hearts, appeased, tranquilized, enlightened, and set flowing through the world the tides of civilization. It was good. The French Revolution was the anointing of humanity.
    Victor Hugo (1802–1885)

    A wet sheet and a flowing sea,
    A wind that follows fast
    And fills the white and rustling sail
    And bends the gallant mast;
    Allan Cunningham (1784–1842)

    The mighty river flowing dark and deep,
    With ebb and flood from the remote sea-tides
    Vague-sounding through the City’s sleepless sleep,
    Is named the River of the Suicides;
    James Thomson (1834–1882)
